Recycling Textile Waste into Fashion
Handmade, one-off pieces you will love and treasure forever
Jodi Leza Thurtell
Sustainable fashion designer
Four years ago I had an epiphany that brought me to LEZA, a dream of creating wonderful things with my own two hands, tapping into my family’s legacy of innovation and recycling.
I didn’t realise it until I started in earnest but sewing is an innate skill I inherited from my grandmothers, while reimagining lost, forgotten or discarded things into treasured possessions is a gift I learned from my mother. The perseverance and dedication to my craft and adoration and respect for nature are something I was taught by my father and grandfather, and so I am the sum of many parts.
Fast fashion is a dark and destructive product of our generation. Textile waste generated by industry is a huge problem across the world and I hope to be a part of the solution in my own, small but steady way.
By recycling textile waste into one-off pieces you will love for years to come.
In a world consumed by mass production, owning something handmade with intention, that is a true original is a special thing.
I invite you to ‘Find the One That Speaks to You.’
